The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has said reconstruction of a collapsed transmission tower supplying electricity to Hayin Gada, Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Girei and surrounding communities in Adamawa State is nearing completion.
In an update issued on Friday by its Communications Officer, Blessing Tunoh, the company said work on the replacement tower had progressed significantly, with the new structure already being assembled.
YEDC said the development brings the affected communities closer to the restoration of electricity supply, which was disrupted following the collapse of the transmission infrastructure.
“Management assures customers that YEDC is committed to restoring power supply to the affected areas immediately after the completion of the reconstruction,” the company said.
The distribution company thanked residents for their patience and understanding while repair works are ongoing.
YEDC also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around electricity infrastructure to the relevant authorities.
Hayin Gada, MAUTECH, Girei and neighbouring communities have experienced power disruptions since the transmission tower collapsed.
