Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani, the Ciroma of Gumel, has emerged as the new 17th Emir of Gumel Emirate in Jigawa State.
His appointment was announced following the passing of the immediate past Emir, following due consultation with kingmakers and stakeholders of the emirate.
In a statement, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, congratulated the new Emir and described the appointment as well-deserved.
The Sultan said Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani’s wealth of experience, humility and commitment to service make him fit to lead the Gumel Emirate at this time.
He urged the new Emir to uphold the values, traditions and unity of the Gumel people, and to work closely with government and community leaders to promote peace and development.
The Sultan also prayed for Allah’s guidance and wisdom for the new monarch as he assumes the revered throne.
Residents of Gumel have expressed joy over the appointment, describing the Ciroma as a man of integrity with deep roots in the history and culture of the emirate.
The turbaning and presentation of staff of office is expected to hold on a later date.
