The ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has disrupted examinations and other academic activities at Taraba State University, Jalingo, leaving students and parents uncertain about the academic calendar.
The university’s Registrar, Dr Joseph Umar Bibinu, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the industrial action began on Monday, October 12, 2026, while examinations were underway.
The disruption has raised concerns about the timely completion of scheduled examinations and the resumption of normal academic activities.
According to the statement, the Taraba State Government has set up a committee to review the salary structure of staff in the state’s tertiary institutions as part of efforts to address the dispute.
The university management expressed hope that ongoing dialogue between the government and other stakeholders would lead to a resolution and allow academic activities to resume.
It urged students to remain calm and refrain from actions that could disrupt peace and order on campus.
The management also advised students to rely on official university announcements for updates on the resumption of examinations and other academic activities.
