Four members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) executive committee in Osun State have rejected the recently released Presidential Campaign Council list, demanding an immediate review over alleged violations of party guidelines and exclusion of key stakeholders.
The affected officials made their position known in a statement issued in Osogbo on Tuesday and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Welfare Officer, Adesola Ayangbile; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji; and State Ex-Officio, Abiola Ololade.
They expressed concern that several members of the State Working Committee, who they said should automatically be included under the party’s guidelines, were omitted from the list.
The executives also questioned the composition of the council, saying it appeared inconsistent with an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as its Director-General in Osun State.
According to them, the governor had subsequently inaugurated a broad-based campaign team, making it necessary for the party to clarify the emergence of a different structure.
They argued that the exclusion of recognised party officials raised concerns about consultation, due process and respect for established party structures.
The officials also suggested that the newly released list might have been intended for a parliamentary campaign council rather than a presidential campaign council, urging the party to clarify the distinction to prevent confusion and internal disagreements.
They called for an immediate review of the list through consultations involving relevant stakeholders, including the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General.
The executives, however, reaffirmed their commitment to the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the campaign structure should accommodate all legitimate stakeholders and promote unity within the party.
The development follows the unveiling of a 168-member presidential and parliamentary campaign council by the Osun APC, with the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, named as Director-General and State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, appointed Deputy Director-General.
The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign for Tinubu’s re-election and support other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
