The Oyo State Police Command has brokered peace between the family and associates of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following disagreements over his burial arrangements.
The intervention was led by the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, after he received reports of the dispute on October 28, 2026. The disagreement had reportedly generated tension and public exchanges on social media and other communication platforms.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the commissioner invited the parties to the command headquarters in Eleyele to prevent the dispute from escalating and threatening public peace.
At the end of a meeting held on November 3, the singer’s wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Muniru Olayemi; friends and associates, including Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Lawal Ademola Rafiu, as well as his personal assistant and other representatives, signed a peace undertaking.
Under the agreement, all parties committed to maintaining peace, avoiding actions capable of causing tension and ending public exchanges over the singer’s death and burial arrangements.
They also agreed to stop circulating allegations or other information about the dispute through social media, blogs, radio, print media and other platforms. The undertaking further prohibits them from granting interviews or using representatives and associates to publicise their respective positions.
The Commissioner of Police warned that the agreement must be respected by all parties and their associates, cautioning against attempts to exploit the singer’s death to spread unverified claims or provoke hostility.
He added that anyone whose actions amount to a criminal offence would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police also urged bloggers, media practitioners and members of the public to exercise restraint and avoid spreading unverified information capable of reigniting the disagreement.
Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026. His family announced his death through his TikTok account, describing him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel singer.
