The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, says President Bola Tinubu’s administration will strengthen engagement with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), faith-based organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to address the country’s security, economic and social challenges.
Akume made the disclosure in a statement he personally signed following reactions to President Tinubu’s recent meeting with the leadership of the CBCN.
He said the planned engagement reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and collaboration with key national stakeholders in tackling issues affecting Nigerians.
The SGF also dismissed claims that the Tinubu administration is pursuing a one-party state, describing the allegations as unfounded. He maintained that the government remains committed to Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system and the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.
According to Akume, the administration values constructive dialogue with religious and civil society organisations as part of efforts to promote national unity and advance policies aimed at improving the country’s security, economy and overall social well-being.
