Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has expressed concern over alleged rising political thuggery in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
His comments followed a video shared on Thursday by Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, which purportedly showed the arrest of suspected political thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress.
The video appeared to show about 11 suspected thugs being transported in an APC campaign vehicle before their reported arrest. The circumstances surrounding the arrest could not be independently verified.
The development has heightened concerns over security in Osun, where political parties have traded allegations of attacks and violence ahead of the election.
Reacting to the video, Fayose expressed concern about the political situation in the state and warned that the reported incidents could have wider implications for the 2027 general elections.
“I hope you all are seeing APC’s desperation in Osun. They have flooded the state with all kinds of thugs. We are in trouble,” Fayose said.
He further alleged that the APC was seeking to win the election through force and warned Nigerians to pay attention to the country’s security situation ahead of 2027.
“This APC desperation does not have a part two. Nigerians, you must arise and take your country back. This is definitely not the country you want,” he added.
The APC and Accord Party, the two major parties in the Osun election, have continued to accuse each other of involvement in political violence in different parts of the state.
