The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its Best XI for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with no player from Nigeria’s Super Falcons making the final selection.

The Super Falcons had a disappointing campaign, exiting the tournament at the quarter-final stage after a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon. The result marked the first time the 10-time African champions had failed to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

Tournament champions Cameroon dominated the Best XI with four players: goalkeeper Michaelly Bihina, Myrian Myadjou, Monique Ngock and Marie Ngah.

Runners-up Malawi had two representatives, with sisters Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga included in the team. Hosts Morocco also contributed two players, Mohaila Benzina and Hanane Ait El Haj, while Algeria’s Ines Bellomou and Marine Dafeur completed the North African representation.

The selection highlights the performances of players who made significant contributions to their teams during the tournament, while Nigeria’s absence reflects the Super Falcons’ early exit from the competition.
