The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Olabisi Onabanjo University branch, has commended the institution’s management for its improved performance in the July 2026 Webometrics Global Ranking.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the branch chairperson, Yinusa Ganiyu, ASUU-OOU praised Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ayodeji Agboola and his management team for the university’s performance.

The union said the improved ranking reflected gains in the university’s visibility, academic productivity, research output, digital presence and international recognition.

ASUU-OOU described the achievement as evidence of the collective efforts of the university’s management, staff and students over the past four years.

The union said the progress demonstrated that members of the university community could provide effective leadership and work together to improve the institution.

It urged staff, students, unions and other stakeholders to continue supporting the university’s leadership and work towards sustaining and improving the gains already recorded.

The union also cautioned against actions or distractions that could undermine the progress made or return the institution to what it described as its difficult past.

“The interest of Olabisi Onabanjo University must remain paramount at all times,” ASUU-OOU said, stressing the need for continued cooperation among management, academic and non-academic staff, students and other stakeholders.

According to the July 2026 Webometrics ranking, Olabisi Onabanjo University placed 2,338th among 32,000 universities globally, 57th in Africa and eighth in Nigeria.
