
President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the campaign council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima has been named Vice-Chairman I. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice-Chairman II.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed Secretary of the council, while APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively.
Tinubu also named a team of senior advisers, including former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Osun State Governor Segun Osoba, former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for campaign operations across the North and South, alongside Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.
Other key appointments include Senator Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation, Femi Gbajabiamila as Deputy Director-General for Administration, and James Faleke as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
For media and communications, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris will coordinate the directorate alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, while five spokespersons have also been appointed for the campaign.
Tinubu urged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election and encouraged party leaders to involve members not formally listed in the council’s activities.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet,” the President said.
