A campaign support group backed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has launched a statewide voter education campaign in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The BTO Coalition Platform for PBAT 2027 said the initiative is aimed at encouraging voter participation and addressing the low turnout recorded during the previous general election in the state.

Speaking at a voter sensitisation rally in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area, the coalition’s National President, Adesina Abubakar, said the group is mobilising residents at the grassroots to participate actively in the electoral process.

According to him, Ondo State recorded about 1.9 million registered voters in the last election, but only around 300,000 people cast their ballots, a situation the coalition hopes to change through voter education.

Abubakar said the campaign will focus on educating eligible voters about their civic rights and encouraging them to vote during the 2027 elections, while also promoting support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

He added that the coalition is committed to securing more than one million votes for Tinubu in Ondo State during the presidential election.

Also speaking at the rally, the coalition’s UK Coordinator, Sam Adegbite, said the campaign is designed to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, increase voter awareness and educate residents about the electoral process.

Adegbite said the group is also highlighting what it described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the developmental contributions of Minister Tunji-Ojo in Ondo State.

He noted that the BTO Coalition Platform for PBAT 2027 is a structured political mobilisation network with members across Ondo State and other parts of Nigeria, adding that its activities will continue throughout the election campaign period.
