Football agent Diomansy Kamara has accused some clubs of failing to show adequate respect for African players after two of his clients missed out on deadline-day transfers.

Kamara, who represents Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr and Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, expressed frustration over the collapse of both players’ potential moves.

Sarr had attracted interest from Liverpool, while Lamine Camara was reportedly close to joining Chelsea before Monaco withdrew from the deal at the last minute.

Reacting to the developments, Kamara said African players should not be treated merely as commodities whose futures are decided without sufficient consideration for their ambitions.

“We have to get out of this logic where the African player can sometimes give the feeling that he is just a commodity,” Kamara said, according to the Daily Mail.

“Our African players deserve respect — the respect of their work, their careers, their ambitions and their voices.”

Kamara’s comments have renewed attention on the treatment of African footballers during transfer negotiations, particularly when major moves collapse late in the transfer window.
