The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has cleared the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, of involvement in the organisation’s activities.
The committee said its preliminary investigation found no evidence that Gbajabiamila authorised, established or participated in the operations of the purported agency.

The committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed the findings on Wednesday during a press briefing televised by TVC.
According to the panel, Gbajabiamila contacted the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after concerns about the organisation were brought to his attention.

The committee said the concerns were initially raised by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission over alleged fraudulent activities and misuse of institutional materials.

“The documentary evidence presently before the Committee does not establish that the Chief of Staff authorised, approved, established or participated in the activities of the purported organisation,” the committee said.

The lawmakers also found that a letter allegedly appointing Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi as Director-General of the organisation was forged and falsely attributed to the Presidency.

The panel said the purported appointment letter was neither issued nor signed by Gbajabiamila and was printed on unauthorised letterhead with an invalid reference number.
It further said documents presented as a presidential executive order and an Act of the National Assembly establishing the organisation were not genuine.

The controversy followed the appearance of the purported council in the 2026 Federal Government budget, despite questions over its legal status.
The committee said its investigation found no valid law, executive order or administrative instrument establishing the organisation.
