EFCC: Forfeited Kaduna University Now Serves 1,909 Students

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has said a university recovered through a forfeiture proceeding in Kaduna State has been converted into a federal institution, with 1,909 students matriculated in December 2025.

Olukoyede said the former NOK University in Kachia is now the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, following its final forfeiture to the Federal Government.

“A university seized from crime is now a federal university,” Olukoyede said in a video and accompanying post on his official X account on Friday. He said the institution was expected to contribute to the economic development of Southern Kaduna.

The EFCC chairman also disclosed that another private university in Kebbi State had recently been finally forfeited to the Federal Government. Although he did not name the institution, he referred to a university with temporary and permanent campuses and a large residence built for its vice-chancellor.

The forfeiture is consistent with the case involving Rayhaan University in Kebbi, whose permanent and temporary sites, a third property, radio station and vice-chancellor’s residence were among assets forfeited to the Federal Government in July 2026.

Olukoyede said the EFCC’s enforcement efforts over the past three years had resulted in the forfeiture of 10,053 assets, including properties, vehicles, schools, factories, hotels, machinery and aircraft, as well as 102 tonnes of solid minerals.

He said the disposal of some of the recovered assets had so far generated ₦12.07bn for the Federal Government, describing the recoveries as part of efforts to return proceeds of crime to productive use.

“This is what enforcement looks like when it moves beyond punishment,” Olukoyede said, adding that recovered assets could help strengthen public institutions and deter financial crimes.

The EFCC recently said it had recovered ₦1.233tn in naira, alongside foreign currencies, and secured 10,872 convictions between October 2023 and July 2026.
