Ahmed Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, who were abducted in Kaduna State, have regained their freedom, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

A reliable security source confirmed their release to NAN in Kaduna, saying the family was freed on Thursday. Details of the circumstances surrounding their release were not immediately available.

The family was abducted from their residence in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6.

Days after the incident, a video showing Zakka and his infant daughter in the custody of their abductors circulated widely on social media, triggering public outrage and renewed concerns over insecurity in the state.

Further details about the family’s release were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
