The Osun State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested five suspects over alleged theft, conspiracy, shop burglary and fraud in different parts of the state.
The suspects were identified as Adebisi Olalere, 30; Isiaka Yinusa, 33; Farika Azeez, 30; Daniel Moses, 30; and Monday Lawrence, 30.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following complaints about their alleged activities.
The Corps Commander, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, said operatives apprehended the suspects at different locations, including their alleged hideouts and the scenes of reported offences.
According to the statement, Olalere, a herbalist from Gbongan, was arrested over allegations that he conspired with armed robbers and supplied them with traditional charms. Yinusa, also from Gbongan, was arrested in connection with an alleged shop burglary. The Corps said both men admitted involvement during preliminary investigations. It also described Yinusa as a former convict who had served a prison sentence for motorcycle theft.
Azeez, from Modakeke, was arrested over the alleged theft of a gas cylinder and other items. The Corps said he had previously been convicted of a similar offence and allegedly admitted to the latest incident during interrogation.
Moses and Lawrence, both from Benue State and residents of Ipinrindo in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, were arrested over the alleged theft of iron rods from the local government secretariat.
The statement said Moses allegedly admitted participating in the theft, adding that the stolen rods, estimated to be worth between N50,000 and N100,000, were sold to scrap dealers for between N4,000 and N5,000.
Omoyele said preliminary investigations had yielded admissions from some of the suspects, while some had reportedly provided information about other individuals allegedly linked to the incidents.
The Corps commander urged residents to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to help combat crime. The five suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
