The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the inauguration of the state Presidential Campaign Committee for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election, citing a lack of consultation with the party’s leadership.
In a statement, the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, alleged that allies of Governor Ademola Adeleke failed to consult the party’s state leadership before releasing the committee’s membership list to the public.
Lawal clarified that the Osun APC remains committed to Tinubu’s re-election but insisted that the campaign committee must be constituted in line with the party’s guidelines and established procedures.
He said the party leadership was not involved in setting up the committee, adding that due process had not been followed.
According to Lawal, the list currently in circulation does not have the endorsement of the APC leadership in Osun State.
He maintained that preparations for Tinubu’s re-election should involve proper scheduling and consultations with relevant party stakeholders.
“We consider the re-election of the national leader of our party, President Tinubu, as a collective task which we have been working vigorously and assiduously to achieve through various means,” Lawal said.
He added that the process should be properly organised, stressing the need for the party to follow the appropriate procedures in constituting the campaign committee.
