Human rights activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reportedly been abducted after armed men attacked a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to SaharaReporters, eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed Tawakalitu Restaurants and Catering Services on Friday, October 30, and forcibly took Sowore away.
The assailants reportedly damaged furniture and vehicles during the incident. Footage cited in the report showed broken and overturned tables and chairs, as well as damage outside the restaurant.
Posts on Sowore’s verified Facebook and X accounts subsequently announced the alleged abduction, stating that his whereabouts were unknown.
Some witnesses reportedly alleged that the attackers were political thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress. However, the claim had not been independently verified.
Sowore had travelled to Ekiti for campaign activities, according to information presented by his lawyer before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
The court had adjourned his ongoing cyberbullying trial until November 3, 2026.
As of the time of the report, Sowore’s whereabouts remained unknown, and no official police statement on the incident had been provided.
