Iyabo Ojo Defends FAAN Promo, Denies Payment

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said she is willing to work with any political party committed to Nigeria’s development, following backlash over a promotional video she recorded for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

FAAN recently shared a video on X in which Ojo praised improvements at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Reposting the clip, she wrote: “FAAN is changing for the better in so many ways. I’m so proud of my country.”

The video drew mixed reactions online, with some critics citing her past support for Peter Obi during the 2023 general election and her criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Responding to speculation, FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, denied claims that Ojo had been awarded a contract or appointed as an ambassador for the agency.

Ojo also dismissed suggestions that she was paid for the video, describing it as a voluntary effort to promote the country. “When I see progress… I shout it from the rooftops, not because I am being paid, not because I am political, but because I want good for my country,” she wrote on Instagram.

She said FAAN approached her to help publicise changes at the airport and that she agreed without any formal contract. “I will work with any political party as long as it is building a better tomorrow for our dear nation,” she added.

The controversy comes amid reports of increasing political engagement by celebrities and influencers ahead of future elections, including recent outreach efforts linked to the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
