
Security operatives have foiled an attempted abduction in Rantan Village, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, rescuing two victims after a late-night attack that left one person dead.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on March 2, following a distress call from a resident, according to security sources.
About 15 armed men reportedly stormed the home of a villager, identified as Fulani Bakwai, and abducted him alongside his neighbour, Mohammed Bello. During the attack, the assailants shot 25-year-old Musa Mohammed Bello in the leg as he tried to resist.
Security personnel, working with local vigilante members, responded to the alert and pursued the attackers into nearby bushes. The joint team succeeded in rescuing the two abducted victims as the suspects fled.
The injured victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead. His body has been released to his family for burial.
Authorities said calm has since been restored in the community, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects. An investigation into the incident is underway.
