American singer Jason Derulo has said he never expected to remain unmarried at the age of 37, revealing that his experiences with relationships over the years have shaped his views on commitment.

Speaking in an interview with Graham Bensinger, the Don’t Wanna Go Home hitmaker said he had anticipated marrying earlier in life but later became more cautious after witnessing several relationship breakdowns around him.

“I thought I was going to marry a lot of the girls I dated. Never in a million years did I think that I would be 37 and single,” he said.

Derulo explained that observing strained relationships and unexpected separations among couples influenced his outlook on marriage, making him more hesitant about long-term commitment.

The singer previously dated fellow artiste Jordin Sparks for three years before the relationship ended in September 2014.

In 2021, he welcomed a son with his former partner Jena Frumes. The couple separated about five months after the birth of their child.
