Junior Pope’s Widow Recounts Day She Died

Jennifer Odonwodo, wife of late Nollywood actor JohnPaul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has shared an emotional account of the day she received news of his death.

In a post on her Instagram page on Friday, she described the moment as the most devastating phone call of her life, recalling how she was preparing for a photoshoot when she received the news.

According to her, she was informed that the boat carrying her husband had capsized, a report she initially struggled to believe.

“I was getting dressed to go for a photoshoot when I received the most devastating call of my life… Awele, the boat JP was on just capsized,” she wrote, adding that she initially thought it was a prank.

She said she was later taken to the scene, where she saw a large crowd and witnessed her husband’s lifeless body being transported away.

Jennifer further revealed that the shock severely affected her health, noting that her blood pressure rose sharply and she was immediately hospitalised.

“I was in denial… I still had hope until the morning pallbearers brought in his casket,” she added.

In the post, she also shared videos of her late husband with their children, describing him as a devoted father and expressing gratitude to God for sustaining her family since his passing.

“God is taking care of your children and I, and your mother as well… We miss you so much,” she wrote.

Junior Pope died in April 2024 after a boat conveying him and other film crew members capsized while returning from a movie location.
