Gas Truck Fire Injures Three, Burns Shops in Zaria

Three people were injured and several shops destroyed on Sunday after a gas-laden truck caught fire in the Kwangila area of Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the truck, which was carrying gas, went up in flames while parked along the Funtua–Zaria highway.

According to the agency, the fire quickly spread from the vehicle to nearby shops, causing extensive property damage before emergency responders brought the situation under control.

FRSC said its rescue teams and other emergency services arrived at the scene promptly and succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.

The injured victims were evacuated to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire, but investigations are expected to determine what triggered the incident.

The FRSC also reiterated the need for strict adherence to safety regulations in the transportation and handling of flammable materials to avoid similar occurrences.
