Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid secured places in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday following the conclusion of their quarter-final second-leg matches.

PSG advanced after protecting a 2–0 first-leg advantage against Liverpool, completing the job away from home to confirm their place in the last four.

After a goalless first half, Ousmane Dembélé scored twice after the break to seal qualification for the French champions as they continued their title defence campaign.

At the Wanda Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid progressed despite a 2–1 defeat in the second leg against Barcelona.

Diego Simeone’s side had taken a 2–0 lead from the first leg at the Camp Nou, and a decisive goal from Ademola Lookman proved crucial as they held on to advance after efforts from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres drew Barcelona level on aggregate during the return fixture.

With the semi-final stage set to take shape, PSG will face the winner of the quarter-final tie between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, will meet either Arsenal or Sporting CP in the next round as the race for Europe’s top club prize intensifies.
