As the global football community rallies in support, heartfelt prayers continue for Nigerian Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who remains in an induced coma recovering from a severe abdominal injury sustained during a Premier League match against Leicester City on 11 May 2025.
Among the most poignant expressions of solidarity came from his home state of Kwara, where Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-also Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF)-released a statement expressing unwavering support:
