The Kwara State Government has introduced colour codes for all transporters in the state to enhance the identification of vehicles and improve public safety.
The initiative, announced by Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, Commissioner for Transportation, during a tripartite consultative meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ilorin on Wednesday, mandates transport operators to adopt specific colour schemes for their vehicles.
The commissioner reiterated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state, stating that the move aims to safeguard residents’ lives and property. The meeting included leaders of transport unions, state security agency representatives, and ministry officials.
Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, urged all transporters to fully embrace the latest developments as a way of complimenting government’s effort in promoting an enabling ethical standard in its transport sector, and accelerating the visionary insight of the State Government on the “Smart-City Project”, while integrating a reliable transportation system that promotes social tranquility.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the government has concluded that, “Yellow Colour with green stripes is for all transporters working on shuttle buses and tricycles – as intra-state transport; while Green with the stripe of white is for the inter-states vehicles.”
