Yesufu Dismisses Bwala, Calls for Good Governance

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has dismissed comments made by presidential aide Daniel Bwala regarding former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Speaking on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Yesufu said she would not engage in discussions about Bwala, describing such conversations as unworthy of attention.

“First of all, there’s no right-thinking Nigerian that is going to waste their energy on discussing Daniel Bwala,” she said during the interview.

Yesufu was reacting to Bwala’s earlier remarks questioning Obi’s political relevance, particularly his decision not to remain within a political party long enough to participate in primary elections and test his popularity.

The activist said she had heard Bwala mention her name publicly but chose not to respond directly to him.

“I’m really not going to focus on that. I heard when he was calling my name. I think I will leave him to Mehdi Hasan. That’s someone that knows how to deal with people like Daniel,” she added.

Shifting attention to national issues, Yesufu said Nigerians were more concerned about governance, accountability and transparency than political exchanges.

She stressed the need for leadership that prioritises citizens’ welfare and ensures that the lives of Nigerians matter in government policies and decisions.
