Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly died after battling a prolonged illness.

A source within the Nigerian film industry confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the actor was rushed to the hospital on Monday after his health condition worsened.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Ekubo had been battling kidney cancer for some time before his death.

The actor reportedly died on Tuesday afternoon after spending several hours on life support.

Concerns about Ekubo’s health first emerged in May 2025 following his prolonged absence from social media and public events.

A check by DAILY POST showed that the actor’s last post on his social media pages was made on December 30, 2024.

As of the time of filing this report, the family and management of the actor had yet to release an official statement confirming the development.
