The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has assured residents of the region of enhanced security measures ahead of the Eid El Kabir celebrations scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2026.
In a statement issued ahead of the festivities, the military said troops had been strategically deployed across vulnerable areas in the North-East to prevent any security breach during the celebration period.
The command disclosed that intelligence reports indicated possible attempts by remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters to launch attacks on civilian targets using suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices, particularly in crowded locations.
According to the statement, surveillance operations have been intensified, while troops are working closely with other security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and community vigilance groups to maintain safety across the region.
Operation HADIN KAI urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel throughout the celebrations.
The command advised members of the public to conduct Eid prayers and festivities close to their homes where possible, avoid overcrowded gatherings, and stay alert in public places such as markets, motor parks, banks, and prayer grounds.
Residents were also encouraged to report suspicious movements, unattended objects, or unusual activities to the nearest security formation immediately.
The military further cautioned against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, urging the public to rely only on official communication channels for security updates.
Operation HADIN KAI called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organisations, and community stakeholders to support security efforts by encouraging residents to share credible information with authorities.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property in the North-East and assured residents that troops remained fully prepared to ensure peaceful Eid El Kabir celebrations across the region.
