Gunmen have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her two children in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.
The abduction was confirmed on Wednesday in a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro.
According to the statement, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.
The attackers reportedly intercepted the family’s vehicle during the school run and forcefully took the mother and her children away.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over insecurity in parts of Ibadan and Oyo State generally.
Mrs. John-Paul previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring last year and relocating to Ibadan with her children.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to release an official statement on the incident.
The family has appealed for prayers and called on security authorities to intensify efforts toward securing the safe release of the victims.
