Veteran Nollywood actor and pastor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, has died after a brief illness. He was 66.

Adeshina passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, marking the end of a long career in the Yoruba film industry, where he earned recognition for his contributions as an actor.

His death was confirmed on Tuesday by the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, in a post on Instagram.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Taiwo Adeshina, a beloved Nollywood legend,” Oloketuyi wrote.

He described the late actor as a respected figure whose contributions to the Yoruba movie industry and impact on those around him would not be forgotten.

“Your remarkable contributions to the Yoruba movie industry and the lives you touched will never be forgotten. May God grant you eternal rest and comfort your family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, legend,” he added.

Adeshina’s death has sparked tributes from colleagues and admirers, who have continued to celebrate his legacy in the Nigerian film industry.
