Agbonlahor, Bent Urge Tuchel to Start Rashford

Former England internationals Gabby Agbonlahor and Darren Bent have urged manager Thomas Tuchel to include Marcus Rashford in England’s starting lineup for Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor suggested Rashford should start on the right wing ahead of Noni Madueke, arguing that England could exploit Argentina’s full-backs. He also recommended introducing Bukayo Saka in the second half if the Arsenal forward is not fit to start.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing Rashford on that side. I just think sometimes, you look at the Argentinian full-backs – they are there for the taking,” Agbonlahor said.

He added that Madueke’s recent performances had not done enough to justify another start, saying Rashford could be replaced by Saka around the 60-minute mark if needed.

Bent echoed Agbonlahor’s view, backing Rashford to start on the right flank while recommending Anthony Gordon on the left wing.

“I don’t think Noni Madueke plays, but he might even gamble and try Rashford out there. He could play there and keep Anthony Gordon on the left,” Bent said.
