Courtois Becomes Minority Owner of French Club Le Mans FC

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has acquired a minority stake in French Ligue 2 side Le Mans FC.

The Belgian international made the investment through Nxt Play, an investment company he co-founded, joining an investor group that includes tennis star Novak Djokovic and former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen.

Le Mans FC currently sits fifth on the Ligue 2 table, just three points behind league leaders Troyes.

Courtois’ investment marks a growing trend of top footballers taking ownership stakes in professional clubs while still active in their playing careers.

Fabrizio Romano, the football transfer journalist, confirmed the deal on social media, noting Courtois’ entry into the club’s ownership structure.

The goalkeeper’s involvement aims to support Le Mans’ growth on and off the pitch, leveraging both financial and strategic input from the investor group.

Courtois joins a wave of high-profile players investing in French football; his Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappe purchased Ligue 2 side Caen in 2024.

The Belgian’s investment is expected to enhance Le Mans’ visibility, attract sponsorships, and strengthen its competitive position in Ligue 2.

Le Mans FC officials have welcomed Courtois’ participation, describing it as a positive step toward long-term stability and professional development.

The move highlights the increasing intersection of elite athletes and football club ownership across Europe.
