Nigerian Group Condemns U.S., Israel Over Alleged Iran Strike

The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has condemned what it described as an unprovoked attack by the United States and Israel on Iran, alleging that the strike resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and dozens of civilians.

In a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Abdullahi, and National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Idris Agbabiaka, the group claimed that more than 70 schoolchildren and several other civilians were killed in Tehran during the attack. The claims could not be independently verified.

The group criticized the governments of the United States and Israel, accusing them of aggression and disregarding international appeals for restraint. It said calls from global leaders, including the United Nations Secretary-General, urging de-escalation were ignored.

MMWG warned that the development could heighten global tensions and destabilize economic systems across multiple regions. It listed countries such as India, China, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates as potentially vulnerable to economic disruptions, particularly in the oil sector.

According to the group, flight cancellations and airspace closures across parts of the Middle East over the weekend signal broader economic consequences if hostilities persist.

The organization called on the international community to intervene and prevent further escalation, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. It also urged dialogue to avoid widening the conflict.

The group further acknowledged reports that senior cleric Alireza Arafi had been appointed to temporarily assume leadership in Iran, and appealed for restraint and adherence to religious principles during the transition.
