Russia has delivered humanitarian assistance to Iran as tensions escalate in the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.
The development was disclosed by the Russian Embassy in Kenya in a post on its official X account, stating that Moscow had dispatched medical supplies to support civilians affected by the crisis.
According to the statement, an Ilyushin Il‑76 cargo aircraft transported more than 13 tonnes of emergency medical materials and first-aid supplies to Azerbaijan, from where the shipment is expected to be transferred to Iranian authorities.
The embassy said the aid was intended to assist civilians impacted by the conflict as fighting and geopolitical tensions continue to rise across the region.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei following his emergence as Iran’s new supreme leader, pledging Moscow’s continued support for Tehran.
In a message released by the Kremlin, Putin expressed confidence that Mojtaba Khamenei would guide the country through the current crisis and maintain stability during a challenging period.
The Russian leader also paid tribute to the late Ali Khamenei, stating that his successor would continue the political and religious path established by his predecessor.
Putin further reaffirmed Russia’s strategic partnership with Iran, stressing Moscow’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Tehran amid increasing geopolitical pressure.
The humanitarian aid delivery comes as the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel continues to heighten concerns about broader instability across the Middle East.
