A former Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kwara State, Aisha Ahman-Patigi, has formally declared her intention to contest the state’s governorship under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahman-Patigi, who served during the first term of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq before resigning her position, made the declaration on Sunday, describing it as a defining moment driven by purpose and public demand.

In her speech, she said her ambition goes beyond politics, presenting herself as “a daughter of Kwara” committed to serving the people and addressing their needs.
She pledged to prioritise economic empowerment, job creation, education, innovation, agriculture, and infrastructure development if elected.

The APC aspirant also aligned her vision with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of Bola Tinubu, emphasising inclusive growth and national development.
Ahman-Patigi acknowledged the efforts of Governor AbdulRazaq, noting that his administration has laid important foundations for governance and stability in the state.

Speaking at the event, former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Benjamin Yisa, expressed confidence in her candidacy, suggesting she could make history as the state’s first female governor.
He described her as capable and well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to Kwara’s development.
Her declaration adds a new dimension to the emerging political contest in the state as parties begin early positioning ahead of the next election cycle.
