The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has announced that the inaugural flight for the 2026 Hajj will depart on May 3 from Gateway International Airport, Abeokuta, Ogun State, aboard FlyNas.
This marks the first time pilgrims from Ogun State will depart directly from the state capital following the completion and use of the new airport.
In a statement issued by its Deputy Director of Information and Publications, Fatima Sanda Usara, the commission said several other flights are also scheduled for the same day.
According to the schedule, Umza and Max Air will airlift pilgrims from Abuja, while Air Peace will transport pilgrims from Oyo State via Lagos. Another FlyNas flight is expected to depart from Birnin Kebbi.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) said its staff, including members of the National Medical Team, have already departed for Saudi Arabia to prepare for the arrival of Nigerian pilgrims.
The commission also explained that airlift operations will be conducted zone by zone, warning that airlines will not return to a zone once operations move to another.
It added that pilgrims who miss their scheduled flights will be required to wait for the next available arrangement, which may cause delays.
NAHCON further directed pilgrims to strictly adhere to assigned groups of 45, noting that travel documents, including Nusuk cards, will be issued based on these groupings upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Pilgrims were also advised to confirm their group details in advance and obtain contact information of their group leaders and accompanying state officials.
NAHCON Chairman, Ismaila Abba Yusuf, assured intending pilgrims of a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj operation.
