Appeal Court Fixes July 3 for UI Hijab Case Judgment

The Oyo State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has announced that the Court of Appeal in Ibadan will deliver judgment on the appeals concerning the use of the hijab by Muslim students of the International School, University of Ibadan (ISI), on Friday, July 3, 2026.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, MURIC said the judgment is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division, following official notification from the court to all parties involved.

According to the group, the appeals center on the constitutional rights of willing Muslim female students to wear the hijab in school, arguing that the issue relates to the freedom of religion guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

MURIC commended parents, members of the Muslim community, legal representatives and supporters for remaining peaceful and law-abiding throughout the legal proceedings.

The organization urged Muslim parents, members of the Ummah and other interested members of the public to attend the court session to witness the delivery of the judgment.

It also appealed to supporters to maintain peace, respect the rule of law and conduct themselves orderly regardless of the outcome of the case.

MURIC reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the protection of the constitutional rights and religious freedoms of Nigerian Muslims through lawful means.
