Pogba to Leave Monaco After Injury-Plagued Spell

Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will leave Monaco after the French club decided to terminate his contract following a series of injuries.

Monaco announced the decision on Wednesday, saying the objectives set when Pogba joined the club had been “only partially achieved.” His contract was originally due to run until June 2027.

The 33-year-old midfielder is currently sidelined with a thigh injury, having only recently returned from a knee problem. He made six Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last season, playing a total of 115 minutes.

Despite his limited playing time, Monaco praised Pogba’s attitude and contribution to the squad. The club highlighted his “remarkable mindset, determination and unwavering high standards,” adding that he continued to support his teammates by sharing his experience while injured.

Pogba acknowledged that he had not played as many matches as he had hoped during his time at Monaco. He thanked the club’s president, management, teammates, staff and supporters for their support.

The Frenchman began his professional career at Manchester United and made 233 appearances across two spells with the Premier League club. He later enjoyed a successful period at Juventus, winning four Serie A titles and being named the league’s Player of the Year.

Pogba was also a key member of France’s squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

His career was disrupted after he tested positive for testosterone in 2023 while playing for Juventus. He initially received a four-year doping ban, which was reduced to 18 months after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

After completing his ban, Pogba joined Monaco in 2025 in an attempt to revive his career, but persistent injuries limited his involvement.
