The Anambra State Police Command has deployed 60 “Safe School” operatives to examination centres across the state ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled from April 15 to 26.
The command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Tuesday that the deployment is aimed at ensuring safety, security and orderliness throughout the exercise.
According to him, the operation is being coordinated from the eight police area commands across the state under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Harrison Oruruo.
Ikenga explained that the move forms part of the command’s proactive strategy under the “Safe School Initiative” to protect candidates, invigilators and examination officials during the nationwide exercise.
He said the deployment is also intended to prevent examination malpractice, disruption and other security breaches at designated centres.
“The exercise is aimed at providing a secure environment for candidates, invigilators and examination officials,” the statement said.
The police command further assured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during and after the examination period.
Candidates and other stakeholders were urged to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel deployed to the centres.
