FRSC Warns Drivers Over Rainy Season Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged motorists nationwide to reduce speed and exercise extra caution as the rainy season begins, warning that wet roads and poor visibility significantly increase the risk of accidents.

In a statement issued on Monday, the agency stressed that excessive speed on slippery roads remains one of the leading causes of crashes during the period.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed advised drivers to maintain safe speed limits, keep adequate distance from other vehicles, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before travelling.

He noted that rainfall often reduces visibility, fades road markings, and creates waterlogged sections that can pose serious dangers if motorists fail to take precautions.

The agency also warned against sudden braking and urged drivers to use headlights appropriately and remain fully attentive while behind the wheel.

Mohammed reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to safer highways, stating that patrol teams have been deployed across the country to monitor compliance and respond quickly to emergencies.

He further appealed to road users to cooperate with traffic officials and strictly observe safety regulations, emphasising that patience and caution can help prevent avoidable crashes during the rainy season.
