The mother of Oghenemine Ogidi, a 28-year-old musician known as OG Millan, has alleged that she has lost two sons to police brutality in separate incidents, amid renewed public outrage over the killing of her younger son in Delta State.
The latest incident involves Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman, who is currently in detention following the fatal shooting of the musician during a police operation in Effurun.
In a video shared on Facebook and seen by Vanguard, the grieving mother broke down in tears while receiving a condolence visit from former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, and his team.
She claimed the tragedy is the second time she has lost a son in circumstances involving police officers, saying her first son was killed in 2022.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she said emotionally. “They first took my son in 2022, and now they have taken another one from me again. How do I survive this?”
Police authorities earlier confirmed that ASP Usman was arrested after the shooting incident involving the musician, stating that the operation was carried out by officers attached to the Area Command in Effurun based on intelligence reports.
The command further alleged that the suspect, identified as Mene Ogidi in its report, was found with a Beretta pistol and ammunition at the time of arrest.
However, a viral video circulating on social media has triggered public controversy, appearing to show the victim restrained and pleading before being shot.
The incident has continued to spark calls for a thorough investigation, with growing demands for accountability from the police and justice for the deceased.
