FG, Begins Appointment of Five Permanent Secretaries

The Federal Government has opened applications for the appointment of five new permanent secretaries, three of whom will oversee newly established ministries.

According to a circular from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the positions are available to qualified directors in the Federal Civil Service.

The memo, signed by Head of Service Didi Walson-Jack, stated that the vacancies include slots for Imo State, the Federal Capital Territory, and three newly created rotational zonal positions for the North-Central, North-East, and South-East, noting that Eligible candidates must be Grade Level 17 directors, confirmed on the IPPIS platform, with at least two years in their current post, no pending disciplinary cases, and a retirement date beyond December 31, 2026. For female officers, indigeneship must be by birth, not marriage.

Walson-Jack further explained that Applications, along with required documentation, must reach the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Abuja, by 4:00 p.m. on August 12, 2025.
