Tinubu Names Idris Olorunnimbe NCC Chairman, Constitutes USPF Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Idris Olorunnimbe as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and constituted new boards for both the NCC and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF). The appointments were announced on Wednesday and are part of efforts to strengthen key agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Olorunnimbe, a prominent figure in public service and entrepreneurship, previously served on the board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee. During his tenure, he played a key role in initiatives that boosted youth employment and supported thousands of small businesses across Lagos State.

As NCC chairman, Olorunnimbe will oversee policy direction for Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, which contributes over 13% to the country’s GDP. He is expected to work closely with the NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, in driving the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
