NDLEA Seizes 2.3 Tons of Cannabis in Kwara

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State has arrested four suspects and seized 2.318 tons of cannabis, estimated to be worth billions of naira, in separate operations carried out within a week. The seizures were announced by the state commander, Hajia Fatima Popoola, at a press conference in Ilorin.

According to the state commander, the operations took place along Offa and Omu Aran between 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The suspects allegedly concealed the drugs in trucks and a J5 vehicle, disguising them with sacks of sawdust to evade detection. One suspect was caught with 1.2 tons of cannabis, another with 300kg, while 720kg was linked to two others. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his senior adviser, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, commended the NDLEA for the operation. He said the state would continue partnering with security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and urged the public to report suspicious activities.
