President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting the membership of the Federal Executive Council, with changes announced in the ministries of finance and housing.
According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, are to step down from their positions.
Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who now assumes office as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.
In the housing ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee and minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, while Dangiwa is to hand over to the Minister of State pending further directives.
The Presidency directed that all handover processes be completed on or before the close of business on April 23, 2026.
Explaining the changes, Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at strengthening coordination within government and improving service delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 in approving the adjustments.
Tinubu also thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and assured members of the cabinet that efforts to reposition the administration for improved performance would continue.
