Obaje Returns to Top of NPFL Scorers’ Chart

Godwin Obaje has returned to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League scorers’ chart after netting twice in Rangers International F.C.’s 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance F.C. on Sunday.

The experienced striker scored both goals in the hard-fought victory at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, taking his tally for the season to 14 goals.

Obaje now leads the race for the NPFL Golden Boot, moving ahead of his closest challengers with only a few matches left in the campaign.

The 30-year-old is also on the verge of a personal milestone, needing just one more goal to reach 100 career goals in the Nigerian top flight.

Obaje previously finished as the league’s highest scorer in 2016 after recording 18 goals.

Victor Mbaoma of Remo Stars F.C. and Joseph Arumala of Ikorodu City F.C. remain in contention for the top scorer award, with both players currently on 13 goals this season.
