The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to modernising the Armed Forces through strategic international partnerships, technology transfer and local capacity development.
Musa stated this during a working visit to Monaco alongside senior ministry officials as part of ongoing engagements on the proposed Multi-domain Hybrid Intelligence Shield project for the Ministry of Defence.
The project is being discussed with MARSS UK Ltd and its Nigerian partner, MPS Mikopowers Ltd.
According to the minister, the visit focused on practical demonstrations, technical discussions and strategic engagements aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture through advanced surveillance, command and control systems.
Musa said Nigeria must build indigenous operational capacity while leveraging foreign expertise to tackle security threats such as terrorism, border crimes, illegal mining, piracy and the increasing use of unmanned aerial systems.
“The Ministry is the strategic brain of the nation’s defence architecture. We must therefore leverage technology for intelligence, surveillance and recurring service. We have partners and allies ready to support us. We will reach out to them to work as a team,” he said.

During the visit, the Nigerian delegation witnessed demonstrations of radar detection systems, artificial intelligence-driven threat identification, drone interception technologies and integrated command and control solutions.
Discussions also covered plans for national and regional command centres, mobile response units and a Centre of Excellence for simulation, training and doctrine development.

Officials of MARSS UK Ltd and MPS Mikopowers Ltd also presented the NiDAR integrated command and control system, anti-drone technologies, mobile surveillance platforms and border security solutions.
The ministry said the engagements form part of Nigeria’s broader defence diplomacy efforts aimed at improving national security, enhancing inter-agency coordination and strengthening operational effectiveness in response to evolving security challenges.
