A Lagos court has remanded Emeka Joseph at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following allegations that he assaulted a woman identified as Ezeka Chisom.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi.
According to the police, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the command after an informant alerted authorities to a viral video allegedly showing the assault.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim and the suspect had been living together before the incident occurred.
The police said the woman sustained facial injuries during the alleged assault.
“The suspect has since been charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, while the case has been adjourned till August 3, 2026,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling domestic violence and other forms of abuse.
He assured residents that cases involving violence would continue to receive prompt attention and urged the public to report incidents of domestic abuse and other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
The case is expected to resume in court on August 3.
