Prominent Nollywood personalities have joined calls for medical assistance for veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following an appeal by his daughters over his reported battle with stage-four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, in a post on X on Monday, urged the public to help the family connect with medical specialists and facilities capable of reviewing Hassan’s medical records and offering further treatment options.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote.
He stressed that the family was not seeking financial assistance but needed urgent medical guidance. He called for recommendations for reputable hospitals, oncology specialists and advanced treatment centres in Nigeria or abroad.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist please help reach out to his family immediately,” he said.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the appeal on Tuesday, sharing a video of Hassan’s daughters on Instagram and asking anyone who could assist to contact the family or her.
The support followed separate emotional appeals by Lima and Kira Taiwo on Instagram on Monday. The sisters said their father was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for medical professionals or facilities willing to review his condition and provide treatment.
Lima said Hassan’s condition had deteriorated and that hospitals had reportedly declined to continue treating him. Kira said the hospital where he was receiving care had informed the family that he could no longer receive chemotherapy.
Both daughters emphasised that the family was seeking medical intervention rather than financial donations.
